Bachelors degree or higher.
State Board of Educators Certification requirements for entry into Texas Alternative Certification Programs:
- Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited university.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above on a four-point scale, or 2.75 in the last sixty hours.
- Required 15 semester hours for high school certificates (Math and Science applicants), with a GPA of 2.5 or above in the content area that is aligned to the high school curriculum.
- A minimum of 12 hours of coursework for elementary certificates that require a combination of subjects that shall include English, math, science, and social studies with a combined minimum GPA of 2.50
All State Mandated test fees will be paid by Program teacher/principal candidates. If a teacher /principal will secure a job with a district, s/he can do a ten-month internship under a probationary certificate that can be obtained at www.sbec.texas.gov.
The application fee and training fees are non-refundable.
