Teachers prepared in both craft and content
The mission of the program is to prepare teacher candidates with pedagogical knowledge and skills and strong subject-matter knowledge to ensure every student succeeds.
Focus
Meeting the shift TEKS and STAAR created
The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR created a paradigm shift in how we educate our children in Texas. The educational goals alongside can become a reality, provided teachers receive the appropriate professional training.

Collaboration
Built with districts, mentors, and interns together
Through collaborative planning and goal-setting, it was established that the Teachers for the 21st Century Program would achieve the following.
Mentoring that lasts
A high-quality, ongoing mentoring relationship between an intern and a master teacher.
Content and method together
Strong preparation in subject content areas and in educational and pedagogical methods.
District partnership
Collaboration among high-performing educators, partnering with area school districts and intern teachers.
A more representative workforce
Increased multicultural diversity and effective ACP teachers across partner campuses.
Before permanent placement: hands-on teaching and learning in a realistic classroom setting, so no candidate met a class of their own without practice behind them.
